Anderson Runs 100-meter Dash in 11.01 Seconds at Oregon State Meet

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Oliver Anderson (Jr., Salem, OR/Home Schooled) from Willamette University registered a time of 11.01 seconds while placing sixth out of 22 runners in the men's 100-meter dash at the Oregon State University Pacific Northwest Invitational on Saturday, March 19. Anderson also placed third in the men's triple jump with a distance of 44' 3.25". Simon Kidder (So., M, Bend, OR/Summit HS) of Willamette was second in the men's 400-meter hurdles at 58.42 seconds.

Anderson's time in the 100-meter dash was a personal record and just missed Willamette's all-time list in the event. He was 0.03 out of 11th place on the list, recorded by Chris Luetjen at 10.98 seconds in 2014. Anderson was only 0.05 away from 10th place for the Bearcats, set by Neal Howard with a time of 10.96 seconds in 2010.

The competition in the 100-meter event also was close at Oregon State on Saturday, as Anderson finished just 0.04 behind a tie for third place. Isaiah Payne of Seattle University took first place in 10.65 seconds and Christopher Penn from Umpqua Community College placed second in 10.66. Alex Driesner of George Fox University and Noah Payne of Seattle tied for third at 10.97. Dylan Jackson of Linfield University was fifth at 11.00 seconds, just 0.01 in front of Anderson, while Garet Wisenbaker of GFU was sixth at 11.02 seconds, just 0.01 behind Anderson.

Anderson earned his third place mark and a personal record in the triple jump on his first attempt. His 44' 3.25" result was just 3.50 inches out of second place, which went to Isaac Brunk of George Fox at 44' 6.75". Albert MacArthur, competing for Thriller Track and Field, won the triple jump at 50' 6.00".

Kidder's time of 58.42 seconds in the men's 400-meter hurdles was 0.35 under his personal record time of 58.77 at the Willamette Opener. On Saturday, Kidder finished 0.80 out of first place, which went to Ronan Krutzikowski of Linfield in 57.62 seconds.
