TACOMA, Wash. -- The Willamette University women's soccer team played to a draw with the University of Puget Sound for the second time this season, as the Bearcats and the Loggers battled to a 1-1 tie in two overtimes on Sunday, Oct. 27. Shanna Keil (Sr., F, Danville, CA/San Ramon Valley HS) scored her seventh goal of the season for the Bearcats, while CeAnn Romanaggi scored for Puget Sound.
Puget Sound ended the game with an 11-3-2 record, including 9-1-2 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette moved to 9-5-2 on the season, 8-2-2 in the NWC. The Loggers are second in the NWC with 29 points in the standings, while Willamette is third in the NWC with 26 points. Pacific Lutheran University holds first place in the NWC standings at 12-0 and 36 points.
The Bearcats are 5-0-2 in overtime games in NWC play this fall. Including games ending in regulation, Willamette is 6-1-2 in the NWC in matchups decided by one goal or finishing in a tie.

Keil scored the game's first goal at 52:19. After rebound was deflected by a Puget Sound player, Keil shot the ball into the upper left corner of the goal. Romanaggi scored the equalizing goal about 20 minutes later at 72:15. The shot followed a defensive clearance by the Bearcats on a corner kick. Romanaggi controlled the ball and shot from the left side.
The Loggers attained a 17-3 advantage in total shots and registered a 7-2 margin in shots on goal. Keil took two shots for Willamette and placed both shots on target. Ava Cholakian of Puget Sound led all players with four total shots. Kylee Roath from Puget Sound produced three shots, including two shots on goal.
WU goalkeeper Kristen Barclay (Sr., Kenmore, WA/Cedar Park Christian School) was a key player for the Bearcats, as she earned six saves. Goalie Chalea Tome of Puget Sound recorded one save, as she stopped Willamette's first shot of the game, which Keil sent toward the net at 14:36. The only shot earlier in the contest was taken by Cholakian just 2:39 into the game, but the shot was blocked.
Barclay registered two saves during the first overtime. She stopped a shot by Radhi Shultz at 94:31 and kept a shot by Roath out of the net at 96:30. Willamette had a corner kick at 97:48, but the kick did not led to a shot.
Pugert Sound outshot Willamette 2-1 in the second overtime, as none of the three shots reached the target. The shots by the Loggers were just 11 seconds apart and both attempts were blocked. Shultz shot at 101:04 and Tess Carden shot at 1:01.15. Emma Blackburn (So., F, Los Altos, CA/Saint Francis HS) took a for the Bearcats at 1:01:47, but her effort went wide left. Willamette achieved a last-minute corner kick at 1:09:34, but the Bearcats were unable to create a shot in the final 26 seconds.
Willamette will play at Lewis & Clark College on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. (PDT).
