Carianne Makino is in her fifth year as an assistant coach with the Willamette women's soccer team in 2020-21. Her primary responsibility is coaching the Bearcat goalkeepers. She has been coaching at Willamette since 2016.

During the 2013 and 2014 seasons, Makino was a graduate assistant coach at her alma mater, Hawaii Pacific University, in Honolulu. She coached the goalkeepers, providing them with technical and tactical guidance and planning for goalkeeper workouts and drills.

Makino received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Hawaii Pacific in 2012. She earned a Master of Education degree in Secondary Education from HPU in 2015.

While attending HPU as a student, Makino earned PacWest Goalkeeper of the Year honors in 2009 and 2011. She was a team captain for three seasons.
