About

Welcome to your Willamette Softball virtual tour! Our softball program is built from a foundation of dedicated and hard-working individuals past and present who take tremendous pride in being a bearcat. Whether it’s on the field or in the classroom, we are committed to giving everything we have to being successful. We believe that this program and softball family is bigger than ourselves and we are committed to serving our teammates as best we can. We are backed by a community of support and endless resources to help make your experience at Willamette one that you will never forget.

Our team comes from a diverse background from all around the country. Our team consists of future doctors, nurses, physicists, biologists, athletic trainers, lawyers, and everything in between. Willamette offers us academic programs and internship opportunities that are among the best in the country and this is what truly makes Willamette so special. Willamette is an NCAA Division III University and has 19 varsity athletic teams that compete in the Northwest Conference.

Our field is located over the campus skybridge next to The Tokyo International School of America, where we love to go for sushi Wednesdays.

We hope you are able to come visit us soon and experience what Willamette has to offer you!

Why Willamette

Amber Griffith

Physics Major

I chose Willamette because I was given the opportunity to continue playing softball at an academically challenging university. I knew I wanted to pursue engineering, so the 3-2 engineering program was a huge factor in my decision to come to Willamette. I also love the campus! When I came on my first visit I remember thinking how beautiful the campus was, and that is was a place I could envision myself going to school.

Bailey Hillmick

Biology

I chose Willamette because I was familiar with the area which made me more comfortable with the idea of leaving home. I also loved that coming to Willamette provided me the opportunities to be involved with more than just softball, and I would be encouraged to achieve my goals academically as well.

Cassie Cosler

Biology Major

I chose Willamette because when I was on campus I felt like I was at home and could see myself spending the next 4 years here. It was reassuring to know the professors cared so much about their students, and I’ve been able to experience that since being here. People on campus in all departments care a lot about your life while you’re on campus, as well as where you go after you graduate. And it’s close to home, so I get to see my family often.

Kaitlyn Wells

Politics, Policy, Law and Ethics

I chose to come to Willamette because of its proximity to the capital and the opportunities it would give me while I completed my politics degree. I also chose Willamette because of its beautiful campus and the fact that it is close to my hometown. And of course, softball!

Kelsey Wong

Biology Major

I chose Willamette because when I visited the campus I instantly felt a strong sense of community which reminded me of my hometown. Everyone that I met here was super friendly and welcoming. I also thought this school would be fitting because I wanted to continue to play softball while receiving a rigorous education.

Marley Nicassio

Biology Major

I chose Willamette because I was interested in attending a small school with a small student to professor ratio. Having resources (such as tutoring) on campus that are easily accessible was really important to me when I was choosing a school. When I first visited, I fell in love with the campus and couldn't imagine myself anywhere else.

Location

The Capitol: Our Extended Campus

Only a crosswalk away, the epicenter of Oregon government and policy provides another set of labs and classrooms where our students explore and implement the ideas they’re learning from their professors — whether they intern for policymakers, conduct primary source research in the Oregon State Archives, make law recommendations to the legislature or work side-by-side with the state’s top scientists and economists

Pacific Northwest

Willamette University enjoys all the benefits of the Pacific Northwest: forests, rivers, mountains and coastline nearby; a commitment to the environment; a relaxed, creative and civic-minded culture; and vibrant arts and music scenes. We’re also in the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley — a region known for its organic farms, Christmas trees and wineries — and only 48 miles south of Portland, an urban cultural and economic hub.
