SALEM, Ore. -- Four Bearcat student-athletes from the 2002-23 academic year have been inducted into Willamette University's chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. All four inductees from Willamette sports teams were seniors.

Willamette's Phi Beta Kappa chapter was chartered in 1997. Only the top 10% of four-year colleges and universities throughout the nation have been granted chapters in Phi Beta Kappa.

Students must meet several criteria in order to be selected for induction. At Willamette, the top two percent of each junior class and the top 10% of each senior class are selected. Potential inductees typically have a minimum 3.75 cumulative grade point average as a senior or a minimum 3.90 cumulative GPA as a junior. In addition, scholarly achievement, good character and broad cultural interests are important factors in the selection process.
