Roberts and Lee Earn Four Hits Apiece, as Bearcats Roll Past Hanover, 18-9

SANFORD, FLA. -- Jordan Roberts (Sr., CF, Portland, OR/Grant HS) and T.C. Lee (Fr., LF, Lafayette, CA/Acalanes HS) pounded out four hits apiece, leading Willamette University to an 18-9 victory over Hanover College (Ind.) on Monday, Feb. 25 at Sanford Memorial Stadium. The Bearcats evened their overall record at 3-3 (2-1 in Florida), while Hanover dropped to 0-3 on the season.

Roberts was 4 for 5 during the game, with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Lee finished 4 for 6 and scored three runs while earning two RBIs. Kyle Stalker (Jr., 1B, Bellevue, WA/Sammamish HS) provided the game's only home run. Willamette earned 16 hits overall and took advantage of four errors by Hanover.

The Panthers owned a 7-6 lead over the Bearcats after four innings, but Willamette pulled in front with five runs in the top of the sixth inning. WU added three runs in the seventh and four runs in the eighth to increase the margin to 11 runs at 18-7. Hanover tallied two runs in the bottom of the eighth to complete the scoring.

Andrew Wyman (Fr., RHP, Seattle, WA/Ballard HS) was the winning pitcher (1-0), as he recorded his first collegiate victory. Wyman entered the game in the fifth and threw a total of four innings. He allowed four hits and two runs, but did not give up a run until his final inning on the mound.

David Stott (Fr., RHP, Gervais, OR/Gervais HS) was WU's pitcher in the ninth inning. He faced just three batters to end the game.

Kyle Lawson (0-1) took the loss for Hanover. He threw just 1/3 of an inning, but allowed five earned runs, as WU surged past the Panthers in the top of the sixth.

Willamette returns home to open Northwest Conference play with two doubleheaders versus Lewis & Clark College this weekend. On Saturday, March 1, the Bearcats and the Pioneers will start the four-game series at 11 a.m. (PST) at John Lewis Field. The second doubleheader is set for Sunday, March 2, starting at 11 a..m. (PST).
