    SALEM, ORE. â?? After a highly successful 2012 campaign in which the Bearcats finished with an overall record of 8-2 (4-2 in NWC), two returning members of the Willamette University football team have been named as USA College Football Division III Preseason All-Americans.

A total of seven Willamette University football players have been chosen for the seventh annual class of the Hampshire Honor Society, sponsored by the National Football Foundation. The Hampshire Honor Society recognizes college football players from all divisions who are seniors and have maintained at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average during their collegiate careers.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University senior safety Cody Pastorino (Glenn, CA/Willows HS) has been named Second Team All-America by D3football.com.  Overall, a total of 100 NCAA Division III athletes were selected for All-America recognition, with 25 players each named to the First Team, Second Team, Third Team and Fourth Team.

Cody Pastorino (Sr., S, Glenn, CA/Willows HS) was selected to the First Team, Taylor Reeder (Sr., OT, Prunedale CA/Palma HS) was named to the Second Team, and Ben Lyons (Sr., DE, Anchorage, AK/South Anchorage HS) was chosen for the Third Team.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University junior Kyle Derby (PK/P, Oakdale, CA/Oakdale HS) has been chosen First Team Capital One NCAA Division III Academic All-District VIII in football for the 2012 season. The Academic All-District team is determined in voting by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University defense forced three turnovers and the Bearcat offense amassed 572 yards in a 55-0 shutout victory over the University of Puget Sound at McCulloch Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 10. It was Willamette's first shutout since a 44-0 rout against the University of La Verne on Sept. 27, 2008.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Terrell Malley (Jr., HB, Portland, OR/Roosevelt HS) of Willamette University has been chosen as the Northwest Conference Football Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts in the Bearcats' 35-31 win at Pacific University on Saturday, Nov. 3. With the victory, Willamette improved to 7-2 on the season, including 3-2 in the NWC.

    FOREST GROVE, ORE. -- Sophomore running back Dylan Jones (Santa Maria, CA/Ernest Righetti HS) scored for Willamette University on a 1-yard run with 27 seconds remaining, as the Bearcats rallied past Pacific University for a 35-31 Northwest Conference win on Saturday, Nov. 3. The Bearcats drove 76 yards on 10 plays for the winning score on a drive that began with 2:26 left.
  • Linfield Breaks Open Tie Game in Third Quarter, Defeats Bearcats, 45-10

    McMINNVILLE, ORE. -- Willamette University battled archrival Linfield College to a 10-10 tie in the the first half, but the Wildcats broke open the game with three quick scores midway through the third quarter, and went on to defeat the Bearcats, 45-10, in a Northwest Conference game at Maxwell Field.

By prevailing in the battle of undefeated teams, Willamette upped its record to 5-0, 1-0 in the NWC.
