Bearcats to Battle Boxers for Second Time this Season

Willamette Won First Meeting, 51-17; Rematch Counts in NWC Standings

FOREST GROVE, ORE. -- Willamette University, 6-2 overall and 2-2 in the Northwest Conference, and Pacific University, 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the NWC, will battle each other for the second time this season when they meet at Lincoln Park Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 3.

The Bearcats won the first meeting, 51-17, at McCulloch Stadium on Sept. 22. The rematch will be played on the Boxers' home field and will count in a NWC standings.

Willamette's offense is averaging 489.5 total yards per game. The Bearcats have achieved 348.0 passing yards per contest and have gained 141.5 rushing yards per game.

Quarterback Josh Dean (Jr., Dana Point, CA/Dana Hills HS) has completed 217 of 329 passing for a 66.0% completion rate. He has thrown for an impressive 2,665 yards and a school record 29 touchdowns. He is averaging 331.1 passing yards per game. In the first meeting with Pacific, he connected on 33 of 46 passes for 353 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Dean's top receivers have been Jake Knecht (Sr., WR, Issaquah, WA/Skyline HS/Illinois State Univ.) and Jake Turner (Sr., WR, Ontario, Ore./Ontario HS). Knecht leads the Bearcats with 44 catches and has gained 579 receiving yards. He has scored 10 touchdowns. Turner ranks first on the team with 665 receiving yards. He has caught 40 passes and has scored five touchdowns.

Benny Weischedel (Sr., TE, San Pedro, CA/San Pedro HS) has registered 37 catches for the Bearcats for 572 yards. He has contributed five touchdowns.

Sophomore running back Dylan Jones (So., Santa Maria, CA/Ernest Righetti HS) leads the WU rushing game. Jones has carried the ball 145 times for 638 yards (4.4 avg.) and four scores. He also scored two touchdowns on pass receptions.

Inside linebacker Jack Nelson (So., Portland, OR/Jesuit HS) tops the WU defensive chart. He has achieved 61 total tackles, with 38 unassisted tackles and 23 assists. Cullen Carroll (Sr., OLB, Petaluma, CA/St. Vincent de Paul HS) had registered 57 total tackles, including a team-high 44 solo tackles.
