Rushes for 223 Yards to Finish Season with School Record 1,599 Yards

SALEM, ORE. -- Running back Dylan Jones (Sr., Santa Maria, CA/Ernest Righetti HS) of Willamette University has been selected Northwest Conference Football Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts against the University of Puget Sound on Saturday, Nov. 15. Jones has received the Student-Athlete of the Week honor three times this year.

Jones carried the ball 32 times for 223 yards and one touchdown against the Loggers. He had runs of 22, 31, 26, 13 and 16 yards, and scored on a 5-yard run with 13:56 left in the game. Willamette lost to Puget Sound, 27-14.

For the year, Jones rushed 237 times for a school record 1,599 yards. He leads NCAA Division III with 177.7 rushing yards per game and is fifth in scoring with 12.0 points per game. He rushed for 2,857 yards in his career, just two yards short of the school record.

Jones scored 18 rushing touchdowns this season, finishing only two scores away from the school record. He achieved 34 career rushing touchdowns and also scored twice in his career on pass receptions, giving him 36 total touchdowns. He scored 216 career points for the Bearcats

He was named NWC Football Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week earlier this season after games against Whitworth University on Oct. 11 and Linfield College on Nov. 1.

In the game against Whitworth, Jones ran with the ball 30 times for a school record 350 yards and three touchdowns covering 67, 75 and 4 yards. Six of his carries went for 10 or more yards.

Jones rushed 35 times for 166 yards and three touchdowns against Linfield, including a school record 98-yard run that gave WU a 31-14 lead with 12:01 left in the game. He also scored on runs of 1 yard and 5 yards. The Bearcats defeated the Wildcats, 31-28.

Willamette concluded the season with an overall record of 5-4, including 3-4 in the NWC. Jones helped the Bearcats average 258.9 rushing yards and 413.4 total yards per game. WU ranks 15th in NCAA Division III in rushing yards per game. The Bearcats averaged 31.9 points per game.
