McClary is Selected as the NWC Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University senior post Kyler McClary (Hillsboro, OR/Glencoe HS) has been selected as the Northwest Conference Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts during the week ending Feb. 1, 2009. McClary started both of Willamette's games during the week and averaged 20.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest.

McClary connected on 65.2% of his shots (15 of 23) and made 9 of 11 free throws (81.8%). He scored 23 points and hauled down seven rebounds in an 84-78 loss to Linfield College on Jan. 27, then registered 18 points and four boards in Willamette's 67-53 victory over Pacific Lutheran University on Jan. 30. He averaged 37.0 minutes played per game.

For the season, McClary has provided the Bearcats with 15.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per night. He has scored a total of 263 points this season, giving him 995 career points. He needs five points to reach the 1,000 mark. McClary also has accumulated 390 rebounds in his four seasons with the 'Cats.

Willamette is 9-8 overall and 5-5 in the Northwest Conference. The Bearcats will return to action on Friday, Feb. 6 at Whitworth University. Game time in Spokane, Wash., is set for 8 p.m. (PST).

Kyler McClary scored 23 points against Linfield and added 18 points against Pacific Lutheran.
