Davis is Tied for 13th after Two Rounds of NCAA Division III Preview

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -- Austin Davis (Sr., Culver City, CA/Culver City HS) from Willamette University carded a 74 in the second round and was tied for 13th after 36 holes as the NCAA Division III Preview continued on Monday, Sept. 20 at the Mission Inn Resort. Davis, who shot a 70 during Sunday's opening round, ended Monday with an overall score of even-par 144.

Willamette concluded the second day in 17th place at 601. The Bearcats shot 295 in the first round and 306 in the second round. The tournament will finish with the third round on Tuesday, Sept. 21.

Also competing for Willamette are Jack McMullin (So., Seattle, WA/Roosevelt HS), Andrew Kibbee (Sr., Kenmore, WA/Bothell HS), and Alex Weirth (So., Port Orchard, WA/Crosspoint Academy). McMullin led the Bearcats with an even-par 72 in the second round, giving him a 36-hole score of 150 which placed him in a tie for 54th with six other golfers. Kibbee shot a 74 in the second round to move to 151 overall, as he shared a seven-way tie for 61st place. Weirth carded an 86 in the second round for an overall score of 156.

Andre Chi of Methodist University (N.C.) was the medalist leader at the conclusion of the second round. He shot a 69 in the first round and added 4-under 68 on Tuesday for a combined score of 137. Jimmy Morton of Illinois Wesleyan University was second at 138 (68-70). Evan DiSanto from Wittenberg University (Ohio) and Ethan Unverzagt from Huntingdon College (Ala.) were tied for third place at 140 DiSanto shot 73-67 and Unverzagt carded 70-70. Fifth place was held by Owen Burt of Huntingdon at 141 (70-71). Tied for sixth place with overall scores of 142 were JF Aber of Wittenberg (71-71), Davis Reynolds (71-71) from Greensboro College (N.C.), and Max Schwarz (69-73) from Emory University (Ga.).

Methodist remained atop the team leaderboard with a score of 13-under par 563. The Monarchs shot 273 in the first round and added a 290 in the second round. Emory was in second place at 4-under par 572 after recording rounds of 287 and 285. Wittenberg was in third place at 577 (293-284). Illinois College (290-289) and Huntington (284-295) were tied for fourth place at 579.
