SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University and George Fox University have tried to play a men's tennis match on the GFU campus two times in the past week. Both times, the weather got in the way as rain prevented the teams from playing.

The Bearcats and the Bruins have scheduled a third attempt to play the Northwest Conference match in Newberg, Ore. They have selected Sunday, April 13 at 10 a.m. (PDT) as their next try at competing on the courts.

Each team is now scheduled to play a pair of matches on Sunday. WU will take on George Fox, then return to Salem to play Pacific University at the Willamette University Tennis Course. The match with the Boxers is set to start at 1 p.m. (PDT), but may be starter later if the match at GFU runs long. The Bruins will complete the day by hosting Linfield College, also at 1 p.m. (PDT).

The doubleheader on Sunday will complete a busy weekend for the Bearcats. WU will play an exhibition match at Green River Community College in Auburn, Wash., on Friday, April 11 at 6 p.m. (PDT) and will play an NWC match at the University of Puget Sound on Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m. (PDT).

Willamette is 6-8 overall and 6-7 in the NWC. The Bearcats are in fifth place in the conference standings. 1 1/2 matches in front of Puget Sound. The top six teams in the final regular season standings will qualify for the NWC Tournament, scheduled for April 18-19 in Yakima, Wash.

Eric MacMillan is Willamette's #1 singles player.
