Willamette's MacMillan is Chosen NWC Player of the Week

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University senior tennis player Eric MacMillan (Twin Falls, ID/Twin Falls HS) has been named Northwest Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in leading the Bearcats to wins against George Fox University and Lewis & Clark College last weekend. Willamette defeated George Fox, 8-1, on Friday, Feb. 29, then downed Lewis & Clark, 8-1, on Saturday, Mar. 1.

MacMillan won all of his matches to help Willamette achieve a 2-0 record during the week. For the season, MacMillan is 4-2 at #1 singles and 3-4 at #2 doubles.

Against George Fox, MacMillan defeated Ralf Schulz at #1 singles, 6-0, 6-1, while winning at #2 doubles, 8-4. Against Lewis & Clark, MacMillan defeated George Allen at #1 singles, 6-1, 7-5, while winning at #2 doubles, 8-2.

Willamette is currently in fifth place in the NWC standings at 3-3. Whitman College holds first place with a record of 7-0. Willamette is 3-4 overall and has won its last two matches.

Eric MacMillan won two singles matches and two doubles matches, helping WU defeat George Fox and Lewis & Clark.
