Wong Wins First Match at Ojai Tournament over Hudson of Pomona-Pitzer

OJAI, CALIF. -- Willamette University senior tennis player Joshua Wong (Hilo, HI/Hilo HS) opened the 113th Annual Ojai Valley Tournament with a victory in the Men's Division III West Singles bracket over Connor Hudson of Pomona-Pitzer.

Wong, who is seeded #6 in the bracket and received a bye in the first round, rallied past Hudson in the Round of 32. Wong dropped the first set, before winning the next two sets for the win, 1-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Up next for Wong is a match-up with Alex Lane from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the Round of 16. The match is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. (PDT).

This is Wong's fourth trip to the Ojai Tournament, and it is the third time he has won his first singles match. In 2009-10, he advanced to the Round of 16. In 2011-12, he reached the Round of 32.

The Ojai Valley Tournament will continue through Sunday, April 28.
