Wong Falls in the Round of 16 at Ojai Tournament

OJAI, CALIF. -- Joshua Wong (Sr., Hilo, HI/Hilo HS) of Willamette University lost to Alex Lane of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the Round of 16 in the Men's Division III West Singles bracket at the 113th Annual Ojai Valley Tournament on Saturday, April 17.

Wong, seeded #6, fell to Lane in a tie-breaker in the first set. Lane went on to win the match, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2. Lane then defeated the #2 seed, CMS teammate Warren Wood, 6-1, 7-6 (7-1) to advance to the semifinals on Sunday morning.

This spring, Wong achieved a 14-3 record in singles. He has earned a career record of 48-21 in singles matches during the spring season.

During his Willamette career, Wong has competed at the Ojai Tournament four times. He advanced to the Round of 16 in 2009-10 and 2012-13. He reached the Round of 32 in 2011-12.
