SALEM, Ore. -- The Willamette University men's tennis team has qualified as an All-Academic Team for the 2016-17 season, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Willamette was one of five Northwest Conference men's tennis teams to receive the award.

Overall, a total of 720 men's and women's tennis squads from all three NCAA divisions, the NAIA and the junior college level earned ITA All-Academic Team status. The list for NCAA Division III men's and women's tennis included 237 teams. The Bearcats compete in NCAA Division III.

Teams qualified for the All-Academic Team award by having a team grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the 2016-17 academic year. All varsity letter winners on a team were included in the team's grade point average.
