SALEM, Ore. -- Colin Fisher (Jr., Caldwell, ID/Thomas Jefferson Charter School) and Luke Hiserman (So., Monterey, CA/Pacific Grove HS) from the Willamette University men's tennis team have been chosen by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2018-19 season. Fisher received the honor for the third consecutive season, while Hiserman qualified for the award for the second year in a row.

"I am proud of Luke and Colin for their success on and off the court," Willamette Head Men's Tennis Coach Rick Wood said. "They are true student-athletes who represent Willamette well."

Several thousand ITA Scholar-Athletes were selected nationwide from women's tennis squads and men's tennis squads competing in NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, the NAIA and junior colleges. Scholar-Athlete status was achieved if a player was a varsity letterwinner with a grade point average of at least 3.50 (4.0 scale) during the 2018-19 academic year. Athletes had to attend their current college or university for a least two semesters.

Willamette is a member of NCAA Division III and the Northwest Conference. In Division III, a total of 678 men's tennis players were chosen for Scholar-Athlete status. A total of 31 men's players in the NWC were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
