Davis is Chosen as NWC Softball Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University softball player Kenna Davis (So., 3B/SS/P, Alameda, CA/Alameda HS) has been selected as the Northwest Conference Softball Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts against Warner Pacific University on Saturday, Feb. 11 and Bushnell University on Sunday Feb. 12. Willamette swept two games from Warner Pacific, winning 5-4 and 8-1. At Bushnell, the Bearcats split the doubleheader, falling to the Beacons 6-4 in the opener before winning the second game 8-0 on the run rule in five innings.

Davis was 2-0 as a pitcher over the weekend, as she recorded a 0.58 earned run average. She allowed just one run while earning 10 strikeouts -- five in each game -- and giving up one walk. She led Willamette to the 8-1 win over the Warner Pacific Knights and the 8-0 run-rule victory over Bushnell. In the shutout against the Beacons, she limited Bushnell to four hits after holding Warner Pacific to one run and eight hits.

The Bearcats ended the weekend with a 3-3 overall record. Willamette will play two games at Southwestern University on Sunday, Feb. 19 in Georgetown, Texas. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. (PST). The Bearcats' road trip will conclude with a doubleheader against Concordia University Texas on Monday, Feb. 20, starting at 2 p.m. in Austin, Texas.
