SALEM, Ore. -- Britney Muralt (Fy., Portland, OR/Tualatin HS) of Willamette University has been selected as the Northwest Conference Women's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts as the Bearcats took on Pacific University on Saturday, March 20. Muralt took first place in three individual events and swam on WU's winning relay team.

Muralt won the 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, and 100-yard butterfly. Her time in the 200 freestyle was 2:07.40. She registered a time of 59.08 seconds in the 100 freestyle and clocked out in 1:04.87 in the 100 butterfly.

In addition, Muralt swam the anchor leg on the Bearcats' 200-yard freestyle relay team, which won in 1:59.87. The Bearcats won the race by 10.27 seconds.

"I'm very excited for Britney that she is the NWC Women's Swimmer of the Week," Willamette Head Swimming Coach Brent Summers said. "Britney works incredibly hard in practices, and even though she was pretty fatigued at the meet, she swam her races very well. I'm looking forward to watching her race again in a couple of weeks."

Muralt and her teammates will be back in action on Saturday, April 3, when they are scheduled to host Lewis & Clark College. The NWC dual meet will get underway at 10 a.m. (PDT).
