Seelig Shoots a 90 to Lead Bearcats on First Day of NWC Tournament

AURORA, Ore. -- Saida Seelig (So., Portland, OR/Wilson HS) of Willamette University led the Bearcats with a 90 in the first round of the 2024 Northwest Conference Tournament on Saturday, April 20 at Langdon Farms Golf Club. The NWC Tournament will conclude on Sunday, April 21 with the second round at Langdon Farms.

Seelig shot a birdie on the par 3 third hole to highlight the round. She improved by three strokes on her round of 93 at Langdon Farms during the Bearcat Women's Dual #1 last weekend.

Also competing for the Bearcats on Saturday were Anushka Srivastav (Sr., Pune, India/Mahindra International School), Mallory Tolliver (So., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington HS), and Roberta Moore (So., Lakewood, WA/Lakes HS/Lewis & Clark College). Srivastav carded a score of 100, while Tolliver shot 101, and Moore shot 103.

Makensie Toole of George Fox University led the individual standings after 18 holes with a score of 4-over par 75. Alison Takamiy, also from GFU, was second with a 76. Bead Boonta of Pacific University and Kira Goode from the University of Puget Sound were tied for third place at 77, while Beatrice Archer of Whitman College and Brianna McNelly of Whitworth University were tied for fifth place at 79. Liana Brown from GFU held seventh place with an 80. Ainsley Carter of GFU, Ellena Jeong from Whitman, and Reyna Naranjo of the Bruins, each shared eighth place with an 82.

George Fox ended the day in first place on the team leaderboard with a score of 313. The Bruins led by 18 strokes over Whitworth, which owned second place at 331. Whitman was third at 333, Pacific Lutheran University was fourth at 350, and Pacific University held fifth place, one stroke behind PLU at 351. Puget Sound followed in sixth place at 375, while Linfield University was seventh at 364, and Willamette was eighth at 394. Lewis & Clark College did not enter a full team.

Tee times on Sunday will begin at 11 a.m. PDT. Willamette's tee times are 11:08 a.m. for Moore and Tolliver, 11:16 a.m. for Srivastav, and 11:24 for Seelig. All of the Bearcats will start out on Hole #1.
