Kisielnicki Ties Willamette Record with Nine Goals in 20-1 Win over Pacific

SALEM, Ore. -- Claire Kisielnicki (So., ATT, Manitou Springs, CO/Manitou Springs HS) scored nine goals to tie a Willamette University record, as she led the Bearcats to a 20-1 victory over Pacific University in Northwest Conference women's lacrosse action on Sunday, March 10 at Sparks Field. Kisielnicki tied the school record set by Anabel Ohsman ('21), who scored nine goals against the University of Dallas in an 18-14 win on March 24, 2019.

Ohsman also registered one assist against Dallas, as she set a school record with 10 total points in the game. Kisielnicki's nine-goal performance against Pacific was the fifth time a Willamette player has scored exactly nine points in a game since the Bearcats began competing in women's lacrosse in 2019.

Willamette improved to 3-0 on the season and to 2-0 in the NWC. Pacific dropped to 1-2 overall, 0-2 in the NWC.

Following Kiselnicki on Willamette's goal-scoring sheet were Alyssa Molisee (Fy., MID/ATT, Henderson, NV/Nevada State HS) with four goals, Shea Richardson-Pepper (Jr., DEF/MID, San Diego, CA/Scripps Ranch HS) with two goals, and Cedric Shaw (Fy., MID, Jamul, CA/Valhalla HS). Molisee and Shaw each added two assists. Lily Bachiochi (Jr., ATT, Henderson, NV/Coronado HS) scored one goal and five assists.

Players with one goal for the Bearcats were Kendyl Jennings (Sr., MID, Keizer, OR/McNary HS) and Brooklynn Pearl (So., MID, Eugene, OR/Willamette HS). Catie Mohr (So., D/M, Portland, OR/Wilson HS) also provided one assist.

The Bearcats outshot the Boxers 38-3, including 27-2 in shots on goal. Pacific committed 26 turnovers, including 14 caused turnovers by Willamette defenders. Jay Shiflett (Fy., DEF, Glen Burnie, MD/Old Mill HS) led the Bearcats with four caused turnovers, while Pearl and Bachiochi each forced two turnovers.

WU held a 17-7 margin in draw controls, with Shaw providing seven and Richardson-Pepper earning five. Devyn Davis provided four draw controls for Pacific. The Bearcats also recorded a 25-9 lead in ground balls, as Shiflett was credited with six and Richardson-Pepper finished with five. Cyan Fellows supplied the Boxers with four ground balls.

In the first quarter, Willamette scored six goals, including three in the first seven minutes. The Bearcats added seven goals in the second quarter for a 13-0 halftime lead.

Willamette tacked on five goals in the third quarter and took an 18-0 advantage into the final period. Pacific scored its only goal on a shot by Jasmyn Zimmerman just 17 seconds into the fourth quarter during a player-advantage caused by a WU penalty late in the third quarter. Davis supplied an assist on the play. The Bearcats put in the final two goals of the game.

Kisienicki opened the scoring 53 seconds into the game. A bit later, she scored WU's third goal with 8:47 on the clock and produced the team's sixth goal with 40 seconds left in the quarter. Also sending a shot into the net in the first quarter were Pearl, Richardson-Pepper, and Molisee. Kisielnicki added two goals in each of the final three quarters. Molisee earned three goals in the second quarter.

Goalkeeper Olivia Austin (Fy., San Diego, CA/La Jolla HS) of Willamette made one save while improving to 3-0 in goal. Pacific split goalie time between Diane Crets, who was credited with three saves while playing in the first half, and Sophie Sheppard, who contributed four saves while playing in the second half.

The Bearcats will take on Hope College (Mich.) at Sparks Field on Tuesday, March 12. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m. PDT.
