Austin is Chosen NWC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University first-year goalkeeper Olivia Austin (San Diego, CA/La Jolla HS) has been named the Northwest Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week after helping the Bearcats win road games at Occidental College on March 27 and at California Lutheran University on March 29. Austin was selected for the weekly honor for the third time in her relatively new collegiate career. She also was named Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week on March 4 and March 25.

At Occidental, Austin recorded six saves as Willamette defeated the Tigers, 19-9. Two days later, in the game against California Lutheran, she earned three saves in a 19-11 win. Austin also registered eight ground balls during the week, with five against Occidental and three versus CLU.

For the season, Austin has earned 42 saves in Willamette's eight games. She has played every minute in goal for the Bearcats.

Willamette is 6-2 on the season and 3-1 in the NWC. The Bearcats will play Whitman College at Sparks Field on the Willamette campus on Saturday, April 6. Game time is slated for 1 p.m. PDT.
