Blackburn is Named NWC Women's Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Emma Blackburn (Jr., F, Los Altos, CA/Saint Francis HS) of Willamette University has been selected as the Northwest Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts in the Bearcats' 3-1 win at Pacific University on Sunday, March 14. Blackburn was involved in all three of Willamette's goals.

The first goal was set up by a through-pass from Blackburn to Lacey Jones (Sr., F, Portland, OR/David Douglas HS), who scored just 12:13 into the game. Blackburn scored the remaining two goals for the Bearcats. The first goal provided Willamette with a 2-0 lead at 21:43. Pacific scored at 28:26 to cut the margin to 2-1. Blackburn added an insurance goal in the second half at 61:05 to help clinch the win.

"Congratulations to Emma on being selected as the NWC Player of the Week," Willamette Head Women's Soccer Coach Hillary Arthur said. "She continues to put in the work, and it's great to see it result in the goals she scored this weekend."

Willamette, now 1-1 on the season and 1-1 in the NWC, with host Linfield University on Wednesday, March 17. Game time at Sparks Field is set for 7 p.m. (PDT).
