NEWBERG, Ore. -- Jordan Roue (Sr., GK, San Jose, CA/Prospect HS) of Willamette University accumulated 14 saves, but George Fox University hit the nets twice in a 2-0 win over the Bearcats on Sunday, Oct. 10 at the Austin Sports Complex. Roue's 14 saves tied for the second-highest single game total for a Willamette goalkeeper since 2006.

The Willamette school record for saves was set by Nicole Price with 16 stops against the University of Redlands in 2011. Roue tied Emily Sewell for second on the list. Sewell registered 14 saves versus Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in 2015.

With Sunday's win, George Fox pushed its record to 7-4-1 as the Bruins moved to 5-2-1 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette, battling the loss of several key players due to injury, fell to 3-9-0 on the season, 2-6-0 in the NWC.

Roue made nine saves in the first half. The Bruins managed to hold a 1-0 lead at halftime on the strength of a goal by Maggie Phillips at 23:30. Phillips scored from just outside the 18-yard box on a shot that went into the left side of the goal. Rebecca Kozak received an assist on the play.

Willamette's defenders, along with another five saves by Roue, kept the Bearcats within a single goal until Phillips recorded her second goal of the game at 72:57. The insurance goal was scored following a rebound of a shot by Lizzy Merkel that was blocked by Willamette. Phillips shot the ball low and to the left corner of the goal. Phillips dominated GFU's offensive threats during the game with 14 total shots and six shots on goal.

As a team, George Fox finished with a 32-7 margin in total shots and a 16-3 edge in shots on goal. GFU goalie Sara Thudium contributed three saves while earning the shutout.

Lydia Emory (Fy., F, Tigard, OR/Tigard HS) led the Bearcats with three total shots, including two shots on goal that were saved by Thudium at 35:27 in the first half and at 62:41 in the second half. Willamette's final shot on goal was by Paige Murray (Sr., D, Olympia, WA/Capital HS) late in the game as she forced Thudium to make a save at 89:43.

The Bearcats will host Linfield University in an NWC game at Sparks Field on Saturday, Oct. 16. Game time is set for 12 p.m. (PDT).
