Bearcats are Defeated by La Verne, Move Past Redlands, at Posada Royale Invitational

THOUSAND OAKS, CALIF. -- Willamette University lost to the University of Laverne, 3-0, but rallied past the University of Redlands, 3-1, on the final day of the Posada Royale Volleyball Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 10 at California Lutheran University. The split left Willamette with a 3-6 overall record, including 3-1 in the tournament.

La Verne downed Willamette, 25-16, 25-18, 25-11, in the Bearcats' first match of the day. Willamette quickly returned to action against Redlands, as the Bearcats completed back-to-back matches on Court #1 at the Soiland Center. The short break may have given Redlands an edge in the first set, as the Bulldogs took a 25-19 win.

Willamette responded over the next three sets to capture the match. WU prevailed in the second set, 25-19, then added wins of 25-21 and 25-22 to close out the Bulldogs.

Statistics were not immediately available and may not be available until Sunday or Monday.
