Cadien is Selected to All-Tournament Team at UC Santa Cruz Slugfest

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- Olivia Cadien (Jr., OH, Mesa, AZ/Chandler Preparatory Academy) from Willamette University has been named to the All-Tournament Team at the 2023 UC Santa Cruz Slugfest. She was one of eight players selected for the honor.

Cadien earned 53 kills and averaged 4.4 kills per set for the Bearcats. She also provided Willamette with 17 digs and six service aces. She registered four service aces against Hamline University to help the Bearcats set a school record with 19 service aces during the match. She pounded 18 kills against California Lutheran University to open the tournament on Friday, Sept. 1. On Saturday, Sept. 2, Cadien added 22 kills against Hamline and 13 kills versus Gustavus Adolphus College.

Joining Cadien on the All-Tournament Team were Alex Hayes from California Lutheran, Lauren Wilborn of Hamline, Marlee Turn of Gustavus Adolphus, Nicole Kelly from Whitman College, Kassandra Staton from George Fox University, plus Sydney May and Drew Bryant of UC Santa Cruz.

Willamette finished the tournament with a 2-1 record on the season. The Bearcats defeated California Lutheran, 3-1, and moved past Hamline, 3-1, but fell to Gustavus Adolphus, 3-0.
