Heino Places 32nd in 4K Women's Race at Linfield Harrier Classic

McMINNVILLE, Ore. -- Zoe Heino (So., Portland, OR/Mountainside HS) from Willamette University placed 32nd in the women's 4-kilometer race in 15:00.9 at the Linfield Harrier Classic on Friday, Sept. 1 at Joe Dancer Park. Heino was 23rd among scorers. She was the second NCAA Division III runner to cross the finish line during the women's race. The race featured 112 competitors.

In the women's standings, Willamette was ninth out of 13 teams at 241. Oregon State University won the women's title by registering a score of 36 (3-5-6-10-12). The University of Oregon was second at 40 and Seattle University was third at 77.

Katie Clute from Oregon took first place in the women's race with a time of 13:26.6. Anika Thompson of Oregon placed second in 13:29.3. Sage Brooks from OSU achieved third place at 13:30.1, less than a second in front of Melissa Berry of Oregon, who finished fourth in 13:30.9. Ruby Broadbent, competing unattached, was fifth in 13:32.1.

Heino led the way for the Bearcats in building a team score in the women's race. She was followed by Morgan Shaw (Fy., Redmond, OR/Ridgeview HS), Anna Bikle (So., Woodside, CA/Half Moon Bay HS), Aven Roberts (Fy., Missoula, MT/Hellgate HS), and Grace Kosmicki (Fy., Pocatello, ID/Highland HS). Shaw placed 49th overall (38th among scorers) in 15:49.6. Bikle was timed at 16:16.6 to take 65th (53rd among scorers), while Roberts earned a time of 16:46.2 and was 78th (61st among scorers). Kosmicki registered 88th place (66th among scorers) with a time of 17:24.8. Leila Fischer (Sr., Wenatchee, WA/Wenatchee HS) was timed at 17:34.2.

Willamette's next competiton in cross country is set for Sat., Sept. 16 when the Bearcats host the Oak Knoll Loop Run. Action will begin at 9:30 a.m. PDT at Oak Knoll Golf Course in Salem, Oregon.
