Brent Summers is the director of swimming and head coach of the Willamette University men's and women's swimming teams. He is in his fifth season as the head coach in 2022-23 as he takes on additonal duties as director of swimming. Before becoming the head coach, Summers was an assistant coach with the Bearcat swimming teams for three seasons.

In his first season as head coach, the Bearcats set six school records at the 2020 Northwest Conference Swimming Championships. The Bearcats also earned All-NWC honors 12 times.

Prior to joining Willamette's athletic staff for the 2015-16 academic year, Summers served as an adjunct professor at Portland State University and was an assistant site coach for the Portland Athletic Club.

Summers attended college and swam at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo from 2005 to 2009. He was the team captain for his junior and senior years, a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council for three years, and was honored multiple times for academic achievement. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Management and Protection in 2010.

He began coaching in 2009 at the San Luis Obispo Swim Club following the completion of his collegiate swimming career. In 2010, Summers moved to Long Beach and started coaching at the Long Beach Swim Club. Summers also spent time as an assistant coach for the Wilson Classical High School girls' swimming team.

In 2012, Summers moved to Portland, Oregon, to pursue a master's degree in Environmental Management at Portland State which he completed in June of 2014. Summers has coached for the Portland Aquatic Club at the Southwest Community Center. He also has taught swimming lessons at the Multnomah Athletic Club.

Summers resides in Salem with his wife, Gloria, and their son, Logan.
