    SALEM, ORE. -- Former Willamette University track and field sprinter Jaela Dinsmore '12 (Hines, OR/Burns HS) has received a Fulbright Scholar grant. With the grant, Dinsmore plans to teach English in Colombia (South America) as she prepares for a career in bilingual education.

Borden tapped Sabato's knowledge of FinishLynx, the timing software used for the Olympic Trials at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

    CLAREMONT, CALIF. -- Senior sprinter Jaela Dinsmore (Hines, OR/Burns HS) from Willamette University finished in 5th place in the finals of the 100-meter dash with a personal record time of 11.95 seconds at the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, May 26. Dinsmore achieved All-America status by placing among the top eight runners.
  • Freeby Finishes 13th in 3,000-Meter Steeplechase at NCAA Championships

    CLAREMONT, CALIF. -- Willamette freshman Michaela Freeby (Milwaukie, OR/Rex Putnam HS) took 13th place in the finals of the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase on Saturday, May 26 at the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges. Freeby registered a time of 11:05.65 in the finals.
  • Dinsmore Earns NCAA Elite 89 Award in Track and Field

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University senior Jaela Dinsmore (Hines, OR/Burns HS) has received the NCAA Elite 89 Award in Division III women's outdoor track and field for the 2011-12 season. The Elite 89 Award is presented at each of the 89 NCAA national championship events to the competing student-athlete with the highest grade point average.

For Willamette University senior sprinter Jaela Dinsmore (Hines, OR/Burns HS) the statement was true on Friday, May 25 at the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, as she advanced to the finals of the 100-meter dash by just one one-thousandth of a second (.001).

    SALEM, ORE. -- Five Willamette University athletes have qualified to compete in a total of six events at the 2012 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships, set for May 24-26 at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in Claremont, Calif. The top 22 women's athletes and the top 20 men's athletes in each event from throughout NCAA Division III were selected.

She has been succeeding in that quest.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University is hosting the West Coast Invitational track and field meet, starting on Friday, May 11 with the first day of the heptathlon and the decathlon and continuing on Saturday, May 12 with the remaining heptathlon and decathlon events, plus all of the field events and running events. Entries in the meet were filled primarily by Willamette and all nine West Coast Conference teams.

    EUGENE, ORE. -- Senior sprinter Jaela Dinsmore (Hines, OR/Burns HS) from Willamette University placed fourth in the women's 100-meter and 200-meter dashes at the Oregon Twilight on Saturday, May 5. She set personal records in both events, as she lowered her top time at 100 meters to 12.17 seconds and reduced her top result at 200 meters to 24.93 seconds.

    McMINNVILLE, ORE. -- The Willamette University men's and women's track and field teams sent a small group of athletes to compete at the Linfield Twilight on Friday, May 5. A total of six Bearcats participated in the meet, which featured a mix of NCAA Division I, NCAA Division III, NAIA and club team participants.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University track and field athletes have recorded performances this season that are nationally ranked on the NCAA Division III Performance List. As of May 3, the Bearcats have five marks that would qualify athletes for the NCAA Championships if they were held today, plus six other marks that are close to the current cutoff.

    EUGENE, ORE. -- Rebekah Daniel (So., Silverdale, WA/Central Kitsap HS) from Willamette took second place and teammate Elisa Ahern (Fr., Lake Forest, WA/Shorecrest HS) finished third, as the Bearcats claimed two of the top three spots in the women's triple jump at the Titan Twilight track and field meet at Lane Community College on Friday, April 27. The Bearcats sent a select group of field event athletes to compete at the meet.

  • Willamette Track and Field Teams are Ready for NWC Championships

    SALEM, ORE. -- Over the next two days, more than 50 Willamette University athletes will compete at the 2012 Northwest Conference Track and Field Championships at Pacific Lutheran University in Parkland, Wash. The first events will be held on Friday, April 20 starting at 2 p.m. (PDT). Most of Friday's competition will be preliminary heats, with most of the finals held set for Saturday, April 21 starting at 10:30 a.m.

  • Dinsmore Wins 400-Meter Dash at John Knight Twilight, Moves Up to #14 in Nation

    SALEM, ORE. -- Jaela Dinsmore (Sr., Hines, OR/Burns HS) from Willamette University won the women's 400-meter dash at the John Knight Twilight, hosted by Western Oregon University on Friday, April 13. She won the event with a time of 57.54 seconds, as she moved into 14th on the NCAA Division III performance list for 2012. She barely missed her personal record of 57.50 seconds.
