  • Blankenship and Hargrave Earn All-NWC Volleyball Honors

    SALEM, ORE. â?? Two members of the Willamette University volleyball team were recognized as All-Northwest Conference following the 2010 season. Senior Molly Blankenship (OH, Spokane, WA/Spokane Falls CC) was named Second Team All-NWC. Teammate Carly Hargrave (Fr., MH, Happy Valley, OR/Clackamas HS) was named Honorable Mention All-NWC.
  • WU Volleyball Ends Season on High Note, Defeats Whitman, 3-2

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University volleyball team ended the season with a 3-2 victory over Whitman College on Saturday, Nov. 6. The Bearcats won 18-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21, 15-11. Willamette concludes the season 9-16 overall and 5-11 in the Northwest Conference. Whitman finishes at 8-18 overall and 5-11 in the NWC.
  • Pacific Lutheran Clips Bearcat Volleyball, 3-1

    TACOMA, WASH. -- The Willamette University volleyball team dropped a Northwest Conference match to Pacific Lutheran University, 3-1, on Friday, Oct. 29. Despite a strong blocking effort by the Bearcats, the Lutes won 25-22, 20-25, 27-25, 25-19. Willamette is now 8-15 overall and 4-10 in the NWC. Pacific Lutheran moved to 16-7 overall and 10-3 in the NWC.
  • Volleyball Earns 3-1 Victory at Lewis & Clark

    PORTLAND, ORE. -- The Willamette University volleyball team defeated Northwest Conference opponent Lewis & Clark College, 3-1, on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at the Pamplin Sports Complex. The Bearcats won 25-21, 20-25, 26-24, 25-14. Willamette is now 8-14 overall and 4-9 in the NWC. Lewis & Clark moved to 9-14 overall and 5-8 in the NWC.
  • WU Volleyball Team Provides Donation to Lymphoma Research Foundation

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University volleyball team recently donated $754.15 to the Lymphoma Research Foundation by presenting a check to State Rep. Mitch Greenlick at Cone Field House. Greenlick is the founder and past president of the Oregon Chapter of the Lymphoma Research Foundation.
  • Bearcat Volleyball Loses 3-0 to First Place Puget Sound

    TACOMA, WASH. -- The Willamette University volleyball team dropped a Northwest Conference match to host University of Puget Sound, 3-0, on Saturday, Oct. 24. Puget Sound won their tenth match in a row, 25-21, 25-17, 25-16, to improve to 16-4 overall and 11-1 in the NWC.

    FOREST GROVE, ORE. -- Willamette University lost in four sets to Pacific University, 3-1, in a Northwest Conference volleyball match on Friday, Oct. 22 in Forest Grove, Ore. The Boxers won, 25-14, 21-25, 25-19, 25-23, to improve to 4-15 overall, 3-8 in the NWC. Willamette dropped to 7-13 on the season, 3-8 in conference play.
  • Bruins Defeat Bearcat Volleyball in NWC Action, 3-1

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University lost in four sets to visiting George Fox University, 3-1, in a Northwest Conference volleyball match on Saturday, Oct. 16 at Cone Field House. The Bruins won, 27-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21, to improve to 8-12 overall, 3-7 in the NWC. Willamette dropped to 7-12 on the season, 3-7 in conference play.
  • Volleyball Defeats Rival Linfield Wildcats, 3-0

    McMINNVILLE, ORE. -- Willamette University defeated rival Linfield College, 3-0, in a Northwest Conference volleyball match on Friday, Oct. 15. The Bearcats won, 25-22, 25-14, 25-20, to improve to 7-11 overall, 3-6 in the NWC. Linfield dropped to 8-10 on the season, 6-4 in conference play.

The Missionaries won, 19-25, 25-18, 25-22, 19-25 and 15-11 to improve to 5-12 overall, 2-6 in the NWC. Willamette moved to 6-11 on the season, 2-6 in conference play.

  • Bearcat Volleyball Loses Marathon Match to Lewis & Clark

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University volleyball team pushed the match to five sets against Lewis & Clark College, but the Pioneers won, 25-18, 25-20, 21-25, 15-25,15-13, at Cone Field House on Wednesday, Sept. 29. Lewis & Clark appeared to have control of the match after winning the opening two sets, before Willamette battled back to tie it at 2-2, forcing the final set.
  • Puget Sound Escapes with Win Over Bearcat Volleyball, 3-2

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University volleyball team pushed the match to five sets against the University of Puget Sound on Saturday, Sept. 25, but the Loggers won, 21-25, 25-22, 25-11, 22-25, 15-6. Willamette is now 6-7 overall and 2-2 in the Northwest Conference. Puget Sound climbed to 8-4 overall and 3-1 in the NWC.

Willamette improved to .500 in the NWC at 1-1, while upping its record to 5-6 overall. The Bruins dropped to 0-2 in the NWC and to 5-6 on the season.

Willamette came out strong but could not maintain the momentum throughout the match and Linfield won, 12-25, 25-21, 25-12, 23-25, 16-14.

  • Nebraska Wesleyan Defeats Willamette Volleyball

    FOREST GROVE, ORE. -- Nebraska Wesleyan University improved its record to 4-0 after defeating Willamette University 25-20, 25-9 and 25-11 at the Boxer Kickoff Volleyball Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 5. Willamette's season record moved to 2-2 with the loss. Nebraska Wesleyan hit .301 and tallied 44 kills en route to victory.

The Bearcats defeated Bethel University (Minn.) earlier in the day and have moved their season record to 2-1, including 2-0 in the tournament.

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University volleyball team has been picked to finish fifth in the Northwest Conference this season according to the 2010 NWC Volleyball Preseason Poll, as determined by the league's head coaches. Willamette finished 11-13 overall last year and achieved fifth place in the NWC with an 8-8 record. The Bearcats went 6-2 during the second half of the NWC's double round-robin schedule.
