J.H. Booth and Jean Williams awards
The J.H. Booth and Jean Williams awards are presented annually to the senior male and female student-athletes, respectively, who most exemplify and demonstrate outstanding leadership, scholarship, and athleticism. It is this well-rounded approach to sports that distinguishes Willamette Athletics. These awards recognize Bearcat student-athletes excelling in all areas of their careers at the University.
Julie Abendroth, Ed.D Ed.D. Professor of the Year Award
In memory of Professor Abendroth, whose dedication to the student-athletes was not limited to the classroom. She was able to bridge the gap, becoming a mentor and a friend of our student-athletes.
Presented by the Willamette University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee to a Willamette University professor demonstrating devotion to the pursuit of excellence by our student-athletes in both academics and athletics.
Sue J. Rauch Distinguished Service to Athletics
This award is to recognize a member of the Willamette University community, whose ongoing support and commitment served a vital role in the success of the Bearcat Athletic Department, its coaches, and its student-athletes. The ideal candidate has made significant contributions as a staff member or volunteer towards the success of Willamette Athletics during the past year. The recipient may be a current or former University staff member or dedicated volunteer and does not need to be a Willamette University graduate.
Alumnus of the Year
Presented by the Willamette University Coaches in honor of an Alumnus who demonstrates a lifelong connection and commitment to Bearcat Athletics, its coaches, and its student-athletes.
Academic Team of the Year
Awarded to a male and female team who collectively excel in the classroom. The teams, male and female, who attain the highest cumulative GPA through the fall semester receive this award.
Senior Scholar-Athlete
Awarded to a male and female student-athletes who excel through the rigors of Willamette academics. The Student-Athletes, male and female, who attains the highest GPA through the fall semester of their senior year receive this award.
Student-Athlete Service Award
Awarded to a male and female student-athlete who has embodied the Willamette University moto Non nobis solum nati sumus — Not unto ourselves alone are we born. They have exhibited selflessness in their service to others on campus and in the community
Individual Performance of the Year
Awarded to a male and female student-athlete for a single play or performance that made the most impact on the competition, regardless of the outcome.
Athlete of the Year
Awarded to a male and female student-athlete based on the culmination of their yearly stats and athletic accolades.
Newcomer of the Year
Awarded student-athlete on a men's and women's team who excelled who is in their first year of intercollegiate competition as a bearcat in any sport and showed exceptional potential for their upcoming years. Open to first years & transfers. Please include their notable statistics and accolades.
SAAC Bearcat Cup
Awarded to a single team by Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
