Think Pink Weekend

Think Pink Weekend

Get ready to Think Pink! October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and a chance for Willamette Athletics to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. This Saturday and Sunday Bearcat Athletics encourages you to Think Pink at each of the home competitions.

At each game, a Pink edition of the gameday program will be available in exchange for a donation to the American Cancer Society. Willamette also will donate the proceeds from ticket sales at the volleyball game on Saturday night to the American Cancer Society.

Breast cancer is the second most common kind of cancer in women. About 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point. Early breast cancer detection has a 98% cure rate; when discovered too late, the effects are devastating. Breast cancer can strike anytime: young and old, family history or no family history, healthy and unhealthy women; breast cancer does not discriminate.

"Cancer touches so many people, including our student-athletes and the greater Willamette community", said Director of Athletics Rob Passage. "We are proud to play a small part and hope our fans will join us in raising money for the American Cancer Society".
