SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University relief pitcher Jackson Watt (Sr., RHP, Rocklin, CA/Whitney HS) has been selected as the Northwest Conference Baseball Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Calif.) and Occidental College (Calif.) this past weekend.

Watt pitched in two games over the weekend, earning a 1-0 record and a 1.50 earned run average. He pitched a total of six innings for the Bearcats.

He threw 1 1/3 innings against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday, Feb. 12, and gave up one run, while earning one strikeout. He gave up three hits.

Against Occidental on Sunday, Feb. 14, Watt threw extended relief over the final 4 1/3 innings to earn the win, as Willamette rallied from a 6-0 deficit to defeat the Tigers 10-6 in 10 innings. Willamette trailed 6-3 when he entered the game with runners on first and second and two outs in the bottom of the sixth.

Watt did not allow a run and recorded two strikeouts during his appearance against the Tigers. He struck out the first batter he faced to get out of the sixth inning. He allowed two hits in the eighth inning, faced two base runners in the ninth, and gave up two hits in the 10th, but escaped all three situations.

For the season, Watt leads the Willamette pitching staff with a 1.12 earned run average to go along with a 1-0 record and one save. He has struck out five batters in eight innings on the mound.
