NEWBERG, Ore. -- The Northwest Conference baseball game between Willamette University and George Fox University was about to enter the fifth inning on Sunday, March 26 when it was suspended due to rain. George Fox was leading 7-4.

Rain also delayed the start of the game until 2:30 p.m. on the new artificial surface at the Morse Athletic Field.

After the first inning, the Bearcats trailed 5-2. The Bruins added a run in the second inning, but Willamette pulled within 6-4 when Troy Conway (Jr., 2B, Moorpark, CA/Moorpark HS) and Perry Van Eckhardt (Jr., OF, El Cerrito, CA/El Cerrito HS) hit back-to-back solo home runs in the fourth inning. The Bruins tacked on a run in the bottom of the fourth.

The game will resume on Tuesday, March 26 at 12 p.m. (PDT) in Newberg, Oregon. It will begin a doubleheader that will also include the non-conference game that was originally scheduled to be played at Willamette's John Lewis Field on Tuesday. The second game will likely start at about 2 p.m.

Willamette remains 16-10 on the season and 9-5 in the NWC. George Fox is 9-13 overall, 8-9 in the NWC.
