SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University's Eric Waldichuk (Jr., INF/RHP, San Diego, CA/University City HS) has been selected as the Northwest Conference Baseball Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts against Lewis & Clark College on Sunday, April 4. Waldichuk pitched the first six innings in a 7-inning game. He left the mound with a 10-1 lead.

The Bearcats won the game, 10-5, to improve to 15-9 overall, 9-7 in the NWC. Willamette won three out of four games against the Pioneers.

Waldichuk recorded five strikeouts during Sunday's game. He allowed just one run and five hits -- all singles. His ERA was 1.50 as he limited L&C to a .217 batting average. For the season, Waldichuk owns a 2-2 record. He has struck out 25 batters in 26 2/3 innings pitched.

"Eric has gotten better in every outing," Willamette Head Baseball Coach Aaron Swick commented. "His command and his awareness have improved. He competes in every at bat and he gives us a chance to win every time he takes the ball."

Willamette will return to action with a four-game NWC series at Whitworth University on Saturday, April 10 and Sunday, April 11. The teams will play two doubleheaders, with first pitch set for 12 p.m. (PDT) each day.
