Foster Earns NWC Baseball Position Player Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Tassos Foster (Sr., 2B, Novato, CA/Novato HS) of Willamette University has been chosen as the Northwest Conference Baseball Position Player Student-Athlete of the Week for games played between April 8 and April 14. Foster batted .471 (8 of 17) with eight runs and nine RBIs. He also blasted a home run and two doubles, stole a base, and walked five times. Willamette played three games at North Central College (Illinois) and one game versus Concordia University Chicago. The Bearcats went 2-2 and ended the week at 21-8 overall.

Foster was 3 of 6 with four runs, a homer, and seven RBIs in the first game at North Central. During the second game against NCC, he was 2 for 3 with two runs, a double, and two RBIs. In the third game with North Central, he went 3 for 5 with two runs and a double. On defense, he recorded eight putouts, six assists, and one error in the four games, while helping the Bearcats turn one double play.

This season, Foster is hitting .342 with 10 doubles and two homers. He has scored 35 runs and provided Willamette with 23 RBIs. He has walked 21 times and stolen five bases. He has contributed 49 putouts and 75 assists, while participating in 17 double plays on defense.

Willamette will battle NWC rival George Fox University at John Lewis Field in Salem this weekend. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, April 20 starting at 12 p.m. PDT. The Bearcats and the Bruins will complete the series with one game on Sunday, April 21 at 12 p.m.
