Baseball Game at Pomona Canceled in 4th Inning by Thunderstorms

Claremont, Calif. - The baseball game between Willamette Univesity and Pomona-Pitzer was canceled in the top of the fourth inning after the field became unplayable due to rain.  The game had been halted due to lightning with the Bearcats batting with two outs and a runner on second base.  The game was tied 3-3 at the time of the cancellation but no official stats will be recorded because the game had not reached the threshold for it to be considered a completed contest.  There was not an opportunity to suspend the game and continue play on Saturday as both teams already have a full schedule for the rest of the weekend.

The Bearcats will continue their California trip with games at the University of La Verne on Saturday, March 8th.  The first game is scheduled for 11:00 am, with game two to follow.  Willamette will conclude its trip at Chapman University on Sunday, March 9th at 11:00 am.
