Willamette first baseman Luke Piazza has been named the Northwest Conference Baseball Student-Athlete of the Week for his performance in the Bearcats' series win over Lewis & Clark this past weekend.
Piazza helped the Bearcats to a series win against Lewis & Clark by recording 8 hits in 11 at-bats, with six RBIs, and two runs scored. After losing game one and his team in need of a victory, Piazza tripled and scored in the first inning to get Willamette on the scoreboard and followed with an RBI single in the second inning and another single in the third to drive in two more runs and give the Bearcats a 9-0 lead. For the game, he had three hits, walked twice, and drove in four runs. In the deciding game, a 5-4 win for Willamette, Piazza's single in the fifth inning gave the Bearcats back the lead after the Pioneers had tied the game in the top of the inning.
This is the first time Piazza has received SAOW recognition. He received All-NWC Honorable Mention honors in his first season with the Bearcats in 2024.
