SALEM, Ore. -- Andrew Kibbee (Grad., Kenmore, WA/Bothell HS) from Willamette University has been selected as the Northwest Conference Men's Golf Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts at the Willamette Valley Cup on Saturday, March 18 and Sunday, March 19.

Kibbee tied for first place in the individual standings at the Willamette Valley Cup, hosted by the Bearcats at Creekside Golf Club in Salem, Oregon. He carded a 69 in the first round and a 70 in the second round for a 36-hole score of 5-under par 139.

One of the last golfers to begin play in the second round, Kibbee faced some of the worst conditions on the course due to the rain. He officially took second place after Jackson Muramoto of Bushnell University won a scorecard playoff. It was too dark at the end of the second round to hold a playoff on the course.

In the team standings, Willamette took second place behind Whitworth University. The Pirates finished in first place by three strokes at 580 (290-290). Willamette shot 583 with a 289 in the first round and a 294 in the second round. The Bearcats' 289 was the low team round of the tournament.

Kibbee and the rest of the Bearcats will be back in action on Saturday, April 1 and Sunday, April 2 at the Northwest Conference Spring Classic. The tournament will be hosted by Whitworth at the Kalispel golf and Country Club in Spokane, Washington.
