SALEM, Ore. -- Brock Olson (So., Kirkland, WA/Lake Washington HS) of Willamette University has been chosen as the Northwest Conference Men's Golf Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts at the NCAA Division III Preview from Sunday, Oct. 29 through Tuesday, Oct. 31 at the Boulder Creek Golf Course in Boulder City, Nevada. Olson tied for 16th place out of 90 golfers with a 54-hole score of 220, including a 7-under par 65 in the second round.
Olson helped Willamette earn 11th place out of 18 top-quality teams from around the nation. He shot an 81 in the first round when all of the competitors battled a strong wind, then recorded his 7-under 65 on the second day, and closed out the tournament with a 2-over par 74 in the final round. Olson was just three strokes out of tying for 10th place and only four strokes out of a tie for sixth place.
Highlighting Olson's play at the NCAA Division III Preview were his results in the second round, which featured an eagle 3 on the par-5 16th hole to go along with five birdies and 12 pars. He carded two birdies in the first round, and added three birdies in the third round.
The Willamette men's golf team has concluded its 2023 fall schedule. The Bearcats will return to action during the spring semester.
