Molalla, Ore. - Oliver Smith is tied for third place overall after shooting an even-par 71 in the opening round of the George Fox Invite at the Arrowhead Golf Club in Molalla, Oregon.  Jack Carr shot a 76 and was second behind Smith for the Bearcats in the team competition.  Paxton Jones is competing in the individual competition and is in seventh place after carding a 72.

Willamette ended the first round in sixth place after posting a team score of 303.  In addition to Smith's 71 and Carr's 76, the other two rounds for the Bearcats were a 77 by Alexander Papajohn and a 79 from Brock Olson.  Kyler Phillips was the fifth member of the squad and shot an 81 on the afternoon.

In addition to Jones, Willamette had three other golfers competing as individuals.  Benedikt Morsch and Lucas Paul each shot an 82 in the first round and Connor Murphy ended the day at 83.

The second and final round of the George Fox Invite will take place on Monday, March 24th.  The first tee time is scheduled for 9:00 am.
