Olson Wins Medalist Honors as Bearcats Win NWC Spring Classic

Walla Walla, Wash. - Brock Olson followed up his opening round 68 with an even par 72 in round two to finish the NWC Spring Classic at 4-under par and claim Medalist honors as the low scoring individual for the event, while also helping the Bearcats claim the overall team title.  The team finished the two-day event with a total score of 578, good for a one stroke victory over Whitman and George Fox.  

Oliver Smith finished in fourth place overall and had the low round of the day for Willamette, shooting another 71 for a two-day total of 142 (-2).  Both Alexander Papajohn and Jack Carr carded 78s on Monday to finish in 16th and 24th place, respectively.  Paxton Jones was the final member of the team for this event and shot a two-day total of 162 (80-82).  

The NWC Spring Classic is the second of three events that determine the overall conference champion and the team that receives the automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Championship.  Willamette won the NWC Fall Classic by five strokes over Whitman and will carry a six-stroke advantage over the Blues into the NWC Championship event to be played on Sunday, April 20th, and Monday, April 21st.
