Linfield Earns Shutout of Bearcats, 4-0

McMINNVILLE, ORE. -- Linfield College scored three goals in the first half, including a goal with 1:18 left before the intermission, on its way to a 4-0 Northwest Conference victory over Willamette University on Saturday, Sept. 29. Linfield moved to 5-3-1 overall and to 1-3-1 in the NWC. Willamette fell to 2-6-1 on the season, 0-5 in the NWC.

The Wildcats received goals from four players. Nick Jauregui opened the scoring at 18:41 and Kurtis Wong gave Linfield a 2-0 lead at 30:50. Jacob Burger concluded the first-half scoring with a goal at 43:52. The score remained 3-0 until Carter Elhabbassi tallied the game's final goal at 85:54.

Linfield outshot Willamette, 18-7 overall and 9-2 in shots on goal. WU goalie Scott Klein (Fr., Coeur d'Alene, ID/Lake City HS) recorded two saves for the Bearcats, while Mark Bennett (So., GK, Salt Lake City, UT/West HS) added three saves for WU. Mike Belzberg of Linfield earned two saves, while earning the shutout.

Willamette will play at crosstown rival Corban College on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m. (PDT).
