FOREST GROVE, ORE. -- Braydon Calder (So., GK, Philomath, OR/Philomath HS) saved a penalty kick, while Trevor Jensen (Sr., MF, Chula Vista, CA/Bonita Vista HS) scored on a penalty kick at the other end of the field, as Willamette University and Pacific University battled to a 1-1 tie after two overtimes on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Lincoln Park Stadium.

Willamette's record moved to 5-3-2 on the season, 1-2-2 in the Northwest Conference. Pacific ended the game at 5-5-1 overall, 0-4-1 in the NWC.

A fairly even first half saw the Bearcats and Boxers nearly equal in all major statistical categories, with the score appropriately knotted at 0-0. Four minutes into the second half, however, Pacific'sNick Kaminsky crossed the ball to Ian Farley, who headed the ball past Calder for his seventh goal of the season.

Just three minutes later, Pacific had a chance to break the match wide open after the referee spotted a Willamette infraction in the penalty box, but Calder saved Farley's attempt from the penalty spot to keep the score at 1-0.

At 69:48, after the Bearcats earned a spot kick of their own,Jensen made the Boxers pay. The senior playmaker sent his attempt past Pacific goalkeeper Zach Cohen and into the back of the net for his second goal this year.

Though Willamette failed to trouble Cohen through the remainder of the second period and first overtime, the Bearcats fired off four shots to the Boxers' one in the second extra period. Jensen and Austin Jacobson (So., MF, Salem, OR/South Salem HS) sent shots wide and high, respectively to start the period.

Willamette had two chances in the 107th minute. Will O'Neil (Sr., F, Vashon, WA/Vashon Island HS) shot wide before Jensen forced Cohen into his lone save of the overtime period just 40 seconds later.

Statistically, the teams were remarkably even. Pacific finished with a 14-12 edge in shots, including 7-4 in shots on goal. Willamette had a slim advantage in corner kicks, 6-5.

The Bearcats committed 13 fouls against just seven for the Boxers, with Stefan Wutte (Fr., MF, Dallas, OR/West Salem HS) and Sam Gonzalez (So, D, Junction City, OR/Junction City HS) seeing yellow cards.

In addition to Calder in goal, Adam Lewis (Jr., MF, Corvallis, OR/Crescent Valley HS/Pomona-Pitzer) played all 110 minutes for the Bearcats.

Willamette wraps up its four-game road swing with a match on Sunday, Oct. 6 at George Fox University in Newberg, Ore. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m. (PDT).
