LaFrance scores, Mariscal assists, as Men's Soccer ties PLU 1-1

Tacoma, WA - Krisna LaFrance scored in the 55th minute off an assist by Evan Mariscal to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead, but a late goal by Pacific Lutheran's Trevor Thompson tied the game and this match-up between the last two Northwest Conference Champions ended in a 1-1 tie.

Each team applied pressure in the first half with PLU getting off nine shots, with seven on goal, but Bearcat goalkeeper Ryan Doyle was up to the test.  For the match, the Lutes managed 18 total shots with just over half of them on target.  The Bearcats fired off nine shots, with goal-scorer LaFrance leading the way with four and Tiago Palhetas adding three.  

PLU nearly doubled up Willamette in fouls, 13-7, but the Bearcats were given four yellow cards in the match.  Willamette was also whistled office a total of six times, with five coming in the opening 45 minutes.

Willamette plays the second game on their Tacoma trip when they face the University of Puget Sound on Sunday, September 22nd at Noon.  The Bearcats' next home match will be Sunday, September 29th when they host George Fox University, also kicking off at Noon.
