Kim and Palhetas record eight shots each, but Bearcats fall to George Fox 2-0

Salem, OR - Willamette Men's Soccer outshow George Fox University 22-12 at Sparks Field on Sunday, but the Bruins found the back of the net twice and walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Bearcats.  The first goal came in the 29th minute on a penalty kick by Eugene Peltier and the second goal came in the 76th minute from Isaac Williams.

The Bearcats controlled much of the play early in the game but were unable to create many solid chances on goal.  Then late in the 28th minute, a collision just inside the 18-yard box changed the tenor of the match as the Bruins converted on the penalty.  Willamette continued to attack throughout the rest of the first half and into the second half.  The Bearcats put six of their 14 second-half shots on goal but were not able to beat Bruin goalkeeper Justin Huttinger.  The goal by Willams late in the second half put things out of reach for Willamette and would provide the final margin in the George Fox 2-0 win.

Tiago Palhetas and Sean Kim each had eight shots for Willamette, with Simon Stein adding four and the others by Krisna LaFrance and Evan MariscalRyan Doyle played all 90 minutes in goal for the Bearcats and made three saves.

Willamette travels to Eastern Washington next weekend to take on Whitman College on Saturday, October 5th, and Whitworth University on Sunday, October 6th.  Both matches are scheduled to kick off at Noon.  The next home game for the Bearcats will be Sunday, October 13th vs Linfield University.
