Doyle with ten saves, Kim two shots, as Men’s Soccer falls 2-0 at Whitman

Walla Walla, WA - Men's Soccer traveled to Eastern Washington today for a match-up with Whitman College and came up on the wrong end of a 2-0 decision with the Blues scoring a goal in each half.  

The first half was scoreless until the 40th minute when Whitman's Kevin Serrano got a shot past Willamette goalkeeper Ryan Doyle.  It was one of 14 first-half shots for the Blues who would carry that 1-0 lead into halftime. 

Whitman would double its lead just over ten minutes into the second half on a goal by Sawyer Valero on an assist by Pablo Gonzalez.  The Blues would outshoot the Bearcats 20 to 5 and 13 to 3 on goal for the match. 

Sean Kim led the Bearcats in shots with two, followed by Tiago Palhetas, Evan Mariscal, and Ryan O'Grady with one each.  Doyle made ten saves in goal for Willamette.

Men's Soccer will continue their Eastern Washington road trip when they face Whitworth University at Noon on Sunday, October 6th.  The team is on the road again midweek at Pacific and returns home to Sparks Field to face Linfield University on Sunday, October 13th.
