Spokane, WA - Krisna LaFrance scored the opening goal in the seventh minute of the match, but the Men's Soccer was not able to hold the lead in a 4-1 loss at Whitworth University.
The Bearcats controlled the match early but the Pirates tied the score on a long-range shot by Keegan Davis in the 21st minute that snuck just under the crossbar and past Bearcat goalkeeper Ryan Doyle. A turnover in the back by Willamette would lead to Whitworth's second goal just five minutes later and Whitworth would extend its lead on a goal at 41:49 to take a 3-1 lead into the locker room.
The Pirates would come out of halftime and put a damper on any thoughts of a Bearcat comeback by scoring less than two minutes later on a goal by Dominic Gusman that would provide the final margin of victory for Whitworth.
Whitworth outshot Willamette for the match, 12-10. Krisna LaFrance and Sean Kim each had two shots, followed by Rory McKee with two. Doyle played the full ninety minutes in goal and made three saves.
Willamette's next match is Wednesday, October 9th at Pacific University with kickoff scheduled for 5:00 pm. They return home to Sparks Field on Sunday, October 13th to take on Linfield University at Noon.
