
Newberg, Ore. - Men's Soccer traveled to George Fox and defeated the Bruins 4-2 thanks to two goals from Krisna LaFrance and single goals by Sean Kim and Ryan O'Grady. The goals were LaFrance's fifth and sixth of the season and it was his second game with two, the other a 4-0 win over Lewis & Clark on October 16th.
George Fox, who were coming off consecutive matches where they scored five goals, struck first against the Bearcats when Connor Kong found the back of the net in the sixth minute off an assist by Eugene Peltier.
Willamette evened the score in the 33rd minute when LaFrance scored his first goal of the match off an assist by Sean Kim. It was Kiim who then gave the Bearcats the lead just over four minutes later and Willamette took a 2-1 lead to halftime.
Willamette wasted no time in the second half and extended their lead to two goals when Ryan O'Grady converted a penalty kick in the 49th minute. The Bruins got a penalty kick of their own in the 69th minute and the shot was saved by Bearcat goalkeeper Evan Bierman, but Isaac Williams was able to score on the rebound to pull the Bruins within one. Another penalty kick, this time for Willamette in the 76th minute, was converted by LaFrance and provided the final margin for the Bearcats.
Willamette was narrowly outshot 15-14 by George Fox for the match, including 8-7 on goal. LaFrance and Kim each fired four shots for the Bearcats, followed by Tiago Palhetas with three. Bierman played the full 90 minutes in goal for Willamette and recorded six saves.
Men's Soccer returns to action next weekend when they host Whitworth University at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 2nd, and Whitman College at 11:00 am on Sunday, November 3rd.
