Masuko, Keith, and Lindberg Win Individual Events on Day 2 of Bruin Invitational

Newberg, Ore. - Men's Swimming won three individual events and a relay on the second day of the Bruin Invitational to earn a third-place finish in the event.  

The first win of the afternoon came from Ka'olapa Masuko in the 100-yard Breaststroke with a time of 58.88, more than a second ahead of the next swimmer.  Cole Lindberg followed that up in the next event by winning the 100-yard Backstroke and adding to his butterfly win from day one.  

Keeping the momentum rolling, Paul Keith raced to victory in the 200-yard Freestyle in a time of 1:49.67 to give the Bearcats their third consecutive event win on the men's side.  

In the final event of the two-day competition, Keith, Masuko, and Lindberg partnered with Kevin Olmedo to win the 400-yard Freestyle Relay in 3:17.01, touching out PLU by just .09.

Willamette had several other top swims throughout the day with Ethan Davies placing fourth in the 400-yard Individual Medley, Lindberg taking second and Olmedo fifth in the 50-yard Freestyle, and Davies coming in fifth in the 500-yard Free.

Willamette placed third overall in the event with 622 points.  George Fox placed first with 1,011 points, followed by Pacific Lutheran with 721.  Pacific University placed a distant fourth with 34 points overall.

This was the last meet of 2024 for Men's Swimming.  The Bearcats will return to competition in 2025 when they travel to compete against Pacific University on Saturday, January 11th, at 11:00 am.
